The LSW Thunder’s have embarked on a new cricket season with a rejuvenated squad and a strategic overhaul that’s already paying dividends. With a fresh array of talent and a revamped team management, the Thunder’s, under the captaincy of Hitesh Chhabria, have showcased their prowess in the early stages of the season.

The season opener against the HKU team set the stage for the Thunders’ promising start. A commendable batting display by Nauman Ali, who scored a swift 28, and Krishna Chaitanya’s solid half-century laid the foundation for a competitive total of 198 runs. The bowlers, led by the dynamic duo of Sumit Dhar and Praveen, who bagged three wickets each, complemented the batsmen’s efforts by defending the total with an all-round bowling performance. Nauman Ali’s exceptional all-round display earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ title, setting a high bar for the matches to follow.

The second match against KCC Saracens was a testament to the Thunders’ tactical acumen. Opting for a bold move, they opened the bowling with the young left-arm orthodox spinner Sheehan Audrey. The decision paid off when Trideeb Mukkerjee struck in the very first over. The bowlers-maintained pressure with disciplined bowling, and Sheehan’s early breakthroughs left the Saracens struggling at 50/3. The collective effort of the bowlers restricted the Saracens to 147/9.

In response, the Thunders faced an early setback with the loss of Vivek Arya. However, Kailash and Bhavik steadied the ship with a crucial partnership. Despite a couple of quick wickets and an interruption due to rain, the Thunders adapted to a revised target of 127 in 25 overs. They chased down the target just in time, marking their second victory of the season.

The LSW Thunders have not only demonstrated their skill and strategy but also their resilience and adaptability. These early successes have undoubtedly set a positive tone for the season, signaling a new era for the team. Club management and enthusiasts alike will be watching closely as the Thunders continue to forge their path in this new cricket season.
