In the Under 17 premier League clash between LSW U17 Tigers and KCC U17 Hurricanes at GDB Tigers claim strategic win. The Tigers, having won the toss, opted to bat first, setting the stage for an enthralling innings. Openers Shrey Chanchad and Swayam Ghevariya laid a solid foundation for their team, propelling the Tigers to a promising start with a partnership that brought the score to 33. Despite Ghevariya’s dismissal by Mannat Khicha’s skilled bowling, the Tigers’ momentum remained unshaken.
Qasim Iqbal, joining forces with Shrey continued to fortify the Tigers’ position. Their partnership elevated the score to 64 before Shrey fell victim to a catch behind the wickets off Khicha’s delivery. Undeterred, Iqbal persisted, forging small yet significant partnerships with the incoming batsmen. Preet’s brief stint lasted only seven balls, while captain Sheehan contributed a modest 11 runs off 17 balls. This duo managed to advance the team’s score to 106/4, setting a respectable benchmark for the following batsmen.
Iqbal’s steadfast innings were a highlight as he notched up a well-earned fifty in the 23rd over. The subsequent batsmen chipped in with minor partnerships, culminating in the Tigers posting a competitive total of 176 all out in 34.2 overs. The bowling attack from the Hurricanes, led by Shayan Puri, Mannat Khrish Butani, and Prakhar Mishra, was commendable, with Mishra securing impressive figures of 3-35.
The Hurricanes’ response was met with formidable bowling from the Tigers. Pransh and Zain commenced with a fierce attack, removing both openers without conceding a run. Pransh, continuing his excellent form from previous matches, claimed three wickets for a mere five runs in his four-over spell.
The collective effort of the Tigers’ bowlers was evident as Zain, Preet, Sheehan, and Vir each took 2 wickets, effectively stifling the Hurricanes’ batting lineup. The Hurricanes struggled to gain momentum and were eventually dismissed for a paltry 49 runs.
Qasim Iqbal’s performance was the cornerstone of the Tigers’ victory, earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ title for his steady 54 runs off 51 balls. This victory marks back-to-back wins for the Tigers, reigniting their contention in the league. If they maintain their current form, they are well-positioned to make a significant impact in the knockout rounds.
